Captain Don Cenon B. Albia is the Commanding Officer (CEO) of Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms, CA which supports the largest Marine Corps Base in the United States.  Captain Albia oversees the healthcare delivery, partnership building and integration of a civilian-military healthcare delivery team that provides patient and family centered care to area’s eligible beneficiaries.

Before his current position, Captain Albia was the Executive Officer (COO) of Naval Hospital Corpus Christi from March 2006 to March 2008.  He has also served in the capacity as Officer in Charge (COO) for Naval Branch Clinic Health Clinic Mayport from June 2004 to March 2006 which supported the medical needs of the third largest fleet concentration of the U.S. Navy.  Prior to that he was Officer in Charge (COO) of Branch Medical Clinic Iwakuni Japan from June 2001 to June 2004 where he oversaw the delivery of healthcare for Department of Defense beneficiaries aboard Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan and the U. S. Army 83rd Ordnance Battalion in Kure, Japan.  Captain Albia currently has over thirty five years of service in the United States Navy.  He served in the enlisted ranks for 11 years before earning his commission in the Medical Service Corps.  He has over 24 years of progressive experience in Health Care Administration and coordination of other administrative support and maintenance functions of numerous Military Treatment Facilities in the Navy Medicine Department.  Additionally, he served aboard two naval vessels, the USS Richard L. Page and the USS WASP where he coordinated patient movement in support of Operations Restore Hope, Continue Hope and Southern Watch during deployment in the Persian Gulf.

 

Captain Albia earned his Associate in Allied Health from George Washington University while pursuing his Radiologic Technology certification.  He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Healthcare Management from Southern Illinois University and Master of Arts Degree in Health Science Management from Webster University.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the Healthcare Executive of Southern California.  He is also a member of the National Chapter of the Naval Officer Mentorship Association.

 

Captain Albia’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards).
